Stephen Harding Bathrooms has spent over a decade fitting bespoke bathrooms and thoughtful disability adaptations across the North-East. Every job is led personally by Stephen — from the first consultation to the final sealant line.
We regularly consult with occupational therapists and carers to ensure each client's needs are properly understood — whether that's a full wet-room conversion or a single, simple adaptation that quietly restores independence.
Beyond bathrooms we undertake plastering, tiling and easy-clean wall panelling, and can plan each build to suit any budget. Friendly, knowledgeable advice at every step. Fully insured, fully guaranteed.

Every SHB bathroom is priced individually against a fixed written quote after a free on-site visit. A standard bathroom replacement typically takes 7–10 working days, wet-room conversions 10–15. All workmanship is covered by a 12-month no-quibble guarantee and full public liability insurance.
How much does a new bathroom cost with SHB?
Every bathroom is priced individually against a fixed written quote after a
free on-site visit. A small WC refresh typically starts in the low thousands;
a full bathroom replacement is usually a mid four-figure sum upwards; a
wet-room conversion with tanking, level-access tray and new suite is typically
a five-figure project. Written quotes are supplied before any work begins.
Which areas does SHB cover?
Primary coverage is Middlesbrough, Cleveland, Teesside, East Cleveland and
North Yorkshire — including Stockton-on-Tees, Thornaby, Billingham, Redcar,
Saltburn-by-the-Sea, Guisborough, Loftus, Yarm, Eaglescliffe and Ingleby
Barwick. Wider coverage is by arrangement.
Does SHB specialise in disability adaptations?
Yes. Disability and accessibility adaptations are one of our two core
specialisms. We have over twelve years of experience converting standard
bathrooms into wet rooms, walk-in showers and step-free accessible spaces,
working in consultation with NHS occupational therapists, social services
and private carers. Disabled Facilities Grant work is welcomed.
What guarantee does SHB offer?
A twelve-month no-quibble guarantee on all workmanship. Any workmanship issue
reported within the first twelve months is returned to put right at no charge.
SHB carries full public liability insurance.
How long does a typical installation take?
A standard bathroom replacement usually takes 7–10 working days. Wet-room
conversions and larger disability adaptations typically take 10–15 working
days, depending on scope. An exact timeline is included in every written quote.
Do you handle plumbing, tiling and plastering in-house?
Yes. Stephen personally handles the joinery, plumbing first- and second-fix,
tiling and plastering. Electrical work is co-ordinated with a qualified
electrician as part of the project.
Do you work with occupational therapists and carers?
Yes, routinely. Where an occupational therapist has specified particular
mobility requirements — the position of grab rails, the height of a WC,
the gradient of a wet-room floor, the reach radius for a wheelchair user —
we install to that specification.
